Programs and Ministries
Sunday Worship Service: our worship service starts at 10:45 a.m. (10:00 a.m. during July and August) and ends around 12:00 noon. Our worship style is a blend of traditional and contemporary. We sing a mix-up of inspirational praise music and rousing hymns. There is always a time in the service specifically for the children in which the pastor has a creative object lesson. The preaching from Pastor Terry comes straight from the Bible and is always applied to our daily lives.
Nursery: nursery services are provided during the Sunday worship service for the youngest children (0-5 years) in a cheery nursery close to the sanctuary (the room where the worship service takes place).
Junior Church: this program is for children age 6 and older. The children are in the main worship service for about the first 20 minutes. After the "Children's Moments" with Pastor Terry , they are dismissed to the Fellowship Wing for activities and crafts and a snack.
Sunday School: we have Sunday School for all ages: children, teens and adults. Sunday School starts at 9:45 a.m. and runs to 10:30 a.m. The younger children's class meets in the nursery. There is a lesson, often a craft and snack and time for play. The preteen/teen class meets in the youth room which is on the lower level of the house just across the parking lot to the west. The youth room is large and bright with pool table, ping pong table, foosball table, crokinole table, etc. The adult class meets in the church's fellowship wing. It is very informal and no prior knowledge of the Bible is needed.
Kid's Club and Preteen/Teens program: This program meets on Monday evenings at 6:45 p.m. We start out with music in the church sanctuary. Pastor Terry leads in lively children's music with his guitar for the first 15 minutes. Then the children go to their program which involves a Bible lesson, a craft, a food craft, and a snack. The preteens/teens leave for the youth room in the house across the parking lots to the west (see description in the paragraph above). Their time is filled with a relevant Bible lesson, group activity and usually some free time for just "hanging-out" together. The last Monday of every month we have a "gym night" for kids and young teens at 6:30 p.m. On these evenings we meet at Charlemont Free Methodist Church (30127 Brigden Road) which is a mere 10 minute drive from our church. This is always a fun evening.
Quilting and Sewing Group: this group is for ladies, and they start around 9:00 a.m. They quilt beautiful quilts and make bibs and over-alls for babies. If you don't know how to quilt - not a problem - the ladies will show you how! Bring a bag lunch as they pause to eat at noon and have a short inspirational time. Some stay as late as 4:00 p.m., but you can leave at anytime. The Quilts and sewing items are often donated to those in need both here in Canada and overseas. Also individuals from the community will bring their quilts to be quilted and the money donated for the quilting is sent to help those in need (ex. Women's Interval Home, refugees).
Prayer Meeting: a small group meets either Tuesday or Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. to pray for the needs of persons in the congregation and community.
Choir: do you like to sing? You don't even have to be fantastic singer to sing in our choir, because together we all sound way better than we would as individuals. We all lift each other to a higher level! We meet on Tuesday evenings at 7:30 about 7 weeks before Christmas and 7 weeks prior Easter to prepare for Cantatas (which is a evening of beautiful music linked together with narration). A great sense of comradery develops between choir members and there is always lots of laughter and support. We are usually joined by members from the Charlemont Free Methodist Church and the Dawn Valley Bible Methodist Church.
Concerts and Special Events: at least twice a year we devote most of the Sunday worship service to a concert by a well-know Christian music groups. These concerts are free (with a free-will offering taken) and most often there is a fellowship meal afterwards which is also free of cost. We hold a Cantata one Sunday evening in December before Christmas and an Easter Cantata on Good Friday evening (see details in the paragraph above). Then there is the church picnic and other events throughout the year - any excuse just to get together to enjoy each other's company! You would be most welcomed at any and all events.
Pastoral Counselling: Pastor Terry is an approachable pastor and is always available for those who just want to talk about spiritual issues or life issues. He also does pre-marital counselling. Just give the church office a call [(519) 864-1511] to set up a time to meet if you just want to talk something over.
